The explosion debris scattered about 75 acres. It all started with the earthquake earlier that morning. There was no lava during the eruption which means that the activity was only driven by hydrothermal or gas sources.
Explosive debris covered the trail to the overlook of the mountain and it also damaged the overlook. The volcano was never really a lava volcano because it did not have any lava at all but it was considered and eruption because it was driven by hydrothermal or gas sources. In some places the debris went up to two centimeters in size.
The debris went far but this might have been one of the smallest eruptions they have ever had. The eruption was just minor and did not have any deaths. The overlook was ruined but not anything else. This waas manor but it was the latest eruption of Mt. Kilauea.
